This week’s Blogger Friend School assignments are on the topic of “Bountiful Blessings.”

Part A- Share at least 3 “Bountiful Blessings” that the Lord has abundantly provided.
This is a really hard one for me. Not to sound complaining, but the last several years have been very, very difficult for us and not much has been provided “abundantly.” Don’t get me wrong; the Lord has provided – just not what I would call “abundantly.” So, let’s see…
1. Refining fire
2. Salvation; Thank God that I am saved to the uttermost!
3. Godly friends online who, in turn, provide abundant prayer support and love
Part B- Share your Thanksgiving Feast {past or present}
Thanksgiving is a little sporadic in our family. We celebrate it every year, but it’s rarely in the same place. We have held Thanksgiving dinner in our home, at my parents’, at my mother-in-law’s, and at my brother-in-law’s. This year we are going to my parents’ home.
We have a pretty traditional Thanksgiving dinner as far as the basics go – turkey and stuffing (the best part! 🙂 ), mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, pie. No one in my “family of origin” eats sweet potatoes or cranberry sauce, except for my mom, although Michael and Ariel both do. We aren’t really big pumpkin pie fans, either. Chocolate is the big player at our house!
When I was growing up, we also had lemon meringue, and now my mom usually makes a coconut pie particularly with Michael in mind. Last year we had cheesecake, because that’s a big favorite, too.
We don’t really have any related traditions, though. We eat. The guys generally watch football. (I know they will this year because my husband’s favorite team – the Packers – is playing my dad’s favorite team – the Lions!) But food and family is about it. 🙂
Part C- Post a Scripture that reminds you of your blessings!
“I will greatly rejoice in [Yahweh], my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” (Isaiah 61:10)
I LOVE your blessings. So many people do not see fire as a blessing. What would we do without it. It makes me feel good to see you recognize it. We went through the same thing for a few years. Things are getting better now. Our biggest problem is family. If things were perfect, I would begin to wonder. Thanks for sharing.

I have to admit that I am not always good at recognizing it as a blessing, either!
Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving with us! I am not a pumpkin pie person either. Growing up, my Mom always made lemon meringue, chocolate pie, and one pumpkin (for the men to share, LOL). God bless!
What a blessing to be able to say that you are thankful for refining fire. I know a song that calls refining fire “…my hearts one desire…..” It is throughHis refining fire that we grow! Praying for you for the next year.
