Clementine Art products are all-natural art supplies. Unlike many attempts at natural art materials, which flop (like waxy crayons that won’t lay down color), these perform beautifully!
As is the case with most natural products, these are more expensive than their mainstream counterparts. Unfortunately, that means some of us (me!) can’t afford to fully replace our supplies with this good stuff. That makes these a great thing to splurge on at gift-buying time, though! (If you can afford to replace all of our old supplies with this stuff, that’s even better.)

I received the crayons and art dough to try out, and I was impressed with both. When I’ve had “natural” crayons before – usually entirely soy-based – they were so waxy-feeling that they didn’t lay down color well. They were just “icky” to color with. These are not like that at all! They’re much “drier” feeling. The color lays down beautifully. They’re made in an interesting, ergonomic shape, as well. (I tried unsuccessfully to photograph one up-close, but you can get a general idea from the photo above.) The only down-side I can see here is that, because they aren’t a conventional shape, you can’t sharpen them in a crayon sharpener. I’d love to see them create a wider range of colors, too! I do like that these don’t have wrappers. (If your kids are anything like mine, the first thing they do is unpeel the crayons, anyway, wasting paper and making a mess all over your floor.)
The dough is great, too. The texture and consistency is just like the well-known name brand – but without any yucky chemical ingredients. It smells a lot better, too! The other stuff has that weird, salty odor. These are fruit-scented. The lime one, in particular, smells wonderful! As you can see, the packaging is nicer-looking, too.
In addition to the crayons and art dough
, Clementine Art makes/sells crayon rocks
, tempera paint
, glue
, markers
, and gift sets. (Do be aware that the dough and glue contain wheat.) These would be great birthday or Christmas gifts for kids, and even good stocking stuffers.

Disclosure: I received complimentary packages of modeling dough and crayons from Clementine Art to facilitate this post.
