The Hide and Seek Devotional, for ages 4-8, has a catchy cover! The holographic design shows Noah releasing the dove from the ark. (It actually makes me a little dizzy!)
Fifty-two different children’s devotionals each contain a verse, a story, a song, a devotional reading, an application, and a prayer. Twenty-six of the devotionals are from the Old Testament (one for each letter of the alphabet) and twenty-six are from the New Testament (again, one for each letter of the alphabet). Free downloadable audio plays the songs and Kirk Cameron’s narrations of the Bible stories.
The selections are wonderful! My only disappointment is that the New Testament section contains the typical “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right,” (Eph. 6:1) rather than our preferred “Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord.” (Col. 3:20) Obviously, both are Scriptural, so both are good! But we prefer to emphasize pleasing the Lord rather than “this is right,” since both verses are found in Scripture.
Sophia is just learning to read, so I am looking forward to her being able to work through these devotions herself. Of course, she can listen to them already – and they are quite catchy! We listened to one the first morning, and my girls were singing it all day. (Good thing it’s Scripture!)
Disclosure: Thomas Nelson provided me with the book featured above, to facilitate this post. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
I have a 6 year old, The book would be better for her.
I think they would love the audio book.
visual
My daughter is more visual, so I’d say the book.
I have a little four year old brother that would benefit from the book(:
The book would be better for our family. My kids LOVE to read and I encourage them to do so. Even the younger ones (that can’t read) love to pick up a book and flip thru the pages.
Love that it has the free downloadable songs too! What a great gift (:
