If you’ve been reading for the last several weeks, you know that I’ve been working my way through a study about contentment. One of the keys to contentment is focusing on the positive, rather than the negative. Sometimes these are two different aspects of the same circumstance!
For example, one distinction of rural life is the overall lack of exterior lighting. There are no street lamps in the country, and often no neighbors near enough to shed their light on your yard. This can be viewed as a negative thing; I’ve been known to walk into the car at night, because I couldn’t see it. 😉
But it’s also one of my favorite aspects of rural life. You haven’t really seen the night sky until you’ve seen it in a reasonably isolated place, where the lights of human civilization do not take away from the glory of God’s heavenly lights! On a clear night – WOW! Truly “the heavens declare the glory of God”!
