Perhaps you’re familiar with BabyLit primers. We have several of these literature-inspired board books, like Les Miserables: A BabyLit French Language Primer. I was only familiar with the primers, though, not the storybooks, so this took me somewhat by surprise.
The storybook Pride and Prejudice is larger than the primers, and the pages seem a bit less sturdy (although that could just be due to their overall size). It is kind of like a cross between a traditional board book and a “regular” book, which makes it an excellent in-between option.
The story is quite brief, but it does a pretty good job of summarizing the original story with reasonable accuracy (given the length). My six-year-old, in particular, has really enjoyed reading this again and again. That makes these a handy way to make the stories familiar and comfortable so the “real” stories aren’t threatening or overwhelming when the time comes to read those.
