My husband occasionally comments about how well off we would be if he died. This is because we have a good-sized life insurance policy and a not-so-good-sized income.* Of course, we would much rather have him than the life insurance! No husband or daddy is “replaceable,” but he is so wonderful I don’t think we could even come close!
He works hard, even when he doesn’t feel like it, and even when he doesn’t really like his job, so that I can stay home with the girls. And he fully expects me to stay home with the girls, even when that means the budget is tight.
We’ve been in full agreement our entire marriage about lifestyle issues like homeschooling, home birthing, and birth control, so I’ve never found these to be a source of stress.
He is very intelligent and well-learned, so he can answer the plethora of questions I come up with. He’s also wise, and gives good counsel.
He puts up with me!
He takes his responsibility as the head of our household very seriously.
But he doesn’t take life too seriously; he’s very witty and fun to be around.
He is very well-grounded doctrinally, and he teaches us. (He’s a good teacher, too!) He reads the Bible with the girls every day, and prays with us and for us all.
He’s an affectionate daddy, and reads and plays with the girls.
He’s very patient.
He’s handsome. 🙂
He makes beautiful music: he sings, composes, plays the piano, guitar, saxophone, etc.
He is a true man of integrity; he stands up for truth and righteousness even when it costs him.
He appreciates my efforts to feed us healthy meals.
I better stop before this post gets to be a mile long, but you get the idea. 🙂
*(If you have a mortgage, life insurance should be sufficient to cover it. When we took out the policy, we did have a mortgage, so there was enough there to pay off the mortgage and to support us for six months or something like that. Now we have no mortgage — or any debt, for that matter.)
