Audubon Birds I love it when I can buy my children toys that are educational, without their even realizing it! And my girls love birds (the real-life kind), so these Audubon birds by Wild Republic are perfect!

The plush birds are about five inches high. A variety of species are available, with realistic coloring, and each one makes its real-life bird call when a button inside is pressed. We received the Northern Mockingbird (shown at left) and the Dark-Eyed Junco. Although both of these birds are grey, they have distinctive markings (and differently-colored beaks!). You can easily tell the two apart. They definitely sound different, as well!

It could be a lot of fun to purchase these birds, in the species typically seen in your own yard, and use them to teach your children the varying calls. They’re also small enough to be put into a stocking. They’re available at Audubon Society gift shops, Hallmark, Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mountain, and online.
