With the holiday season upon us, many will be traveling. And with travel, for those with babies, comes lots of packing! Diapers are a big part of our luggage when traveling with babies. If you typically use cloth diapers, you may be facing a dilemma – do I travel with cloth and deal with the hassle of figuring out where/how to launder them, or do I just bite the bullet and go with disposables? if environmental concerns are part of your reason for cloth diapering, then Bambo Nature diapers may alleviate some of those concerns.
(Somewhat-) newly-available in the United States, Bambo Nature diapers are 75% biodegradable, in contrast to the typical 35%. They also don’t contain any harmful chemicals. (They’re chlorine-free.) And they’re more breathable than other disposables.
We have had leakage issues with most brands of disposables we tried on Livia prior to this. (To be fair, Huggies and Seventh Generation were the leak-free exceptions.) She’s such a skinny-minny that we had issues with leg openings that wouldn’t close sufficiently. That was not an issue with these Bambo diapers, even though she seems to have had plenty of growing room in the size we chose. The velcro-like tabs can be repositioned as necessary. I also like that the size is printed on the diapers themselves. (I hate it when I find a single, loose diaper and I can’t figure out what size it is because the size is only on the package, not on the diapers. Not a problem with these.)
The only thing I didn’t like about these is that the sizes are not written on the packages in pounds and inches. Because these aren’t made in the U.S., the sizes are in kilograms. Initially, that’s not an issue, because I can figure out the conversion to buy the size I need. (Their products listings often include the conversions, too.) It makes it harder, though, during everyday use, to monitor how much growing room we have left in a given size, because I don’t intuitively use kilograms. As these become more popular in the U.S., hopefully this information will be added to the packaging.
Disclosure: I was provided with a package of size 3 (“Midi”) diapers to try out, to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
