Usually, when you see décor reviews, they’re finished rooms, and they look all put together. But I am decorating inept, and we haven’t gotten our daughters all together in the room they will share (the baby still wakes up at night, so her crib is still in our room), so you’re going to see our in-progress pictures. (And we can hope that someday they won’t be in progress anymore!)
Beyond Bedding is an online retailer that sells – bedding. (And, of course, related items, which is where the “beyond” comes in.) When I was offered the opportunity to do a review, I chose the Pink and Green Flower bedding because of the versatility of the line (in addition to its matching the color scheme of the girls’ room). It can be difficult to find bedding or décor that will coordinate for big girls and babies. The Pink and Green Flower bedding has twin, toddler, and baby girl bedding, as well as curtains, lamps, etc. My big girls don’t need blankets because I already bought fabric to make them duvet covers, so I ordered crib bedding.
This provided a bumper (which will not get used – what is the point of bumpers? First you have to worry about tiny babies scrunching up and suffocating them them, and once they’re big enough for that to not be an issue, they can stand on them and use them to climb out), blanket, crib skirt, diaper stacker, organizer, throw pillow, and two valances. Here you can see the crib bedding (except the bumper) on the crib (in our room):
The other items, meanwhile, went straight into the girls’ bedroom. It’s amazing how much difference the valances made to the room, even though I haven’t even had a chance to put up real curtains yet.
The throw pillow is in there, too, on one of the big girls’ beds, because the baby doesn’t need a pillow. And the organizer is hanging on the end of our new Wal-Mart bunk beds.
(As you can see, I haven’t actually made the duvet covers yet. And this is our real house, under-bed junk and all!)
As Livvy gets older, the crib bedding she has will fit a toddler bed. But there is toddler bedding available that includes a blanket better-suited to a “big-girl bed.” There is twin bedding available, as well, if I decide that the duvet covers are too much trouble or just want to add on.
In the meantime, I will probably find some sort of décor to make out of the unused crib bumper.
One other really neat “feature” at the Beyond Bedding site is the ability to create custom children’s bedding. Whether you’re looking to design your own toddler bedding, teen bedding, or something in between, you can choose your fabric, size, and style, and customize each piece.
Disclosure: Beyond Bedding provided me with a bedding set to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
