There’s only so much to say about these candles from Bluecorn Beeswax. They’re candles, so you all know what that means — you light the wick and they burn. (Try this trick for trimming the wicks first.) But it’s the details about these that make them stand out.
Bluecorn Beeswax Candles
First of all, as is probably apparent from the name, these candles are made from beeswax. Beeswax, like soy wax, is considerably healthier to burn than paraffin wax (what most modern candles are made from). Paraffin is a petroleum product, so burning a paraffin candle in your living room is a little like burning diesel fuel (‘though obviously on a smaller scale). Beeswax, of course, comes adjacent to honey, which we can safely eat.
Beeswax has a distinctive, subtly sweet aroma. These beeswax candles, though, are scented with essential oils in targeted aromatherapy blends — so you’re not going to notice the scent of the wax itself as much.
Aromatherapy
You can purchase these aromatherapy candles as individual scents or as a mixed set. The ones you see here are poured directly into 50% recycled glass, which is thick and heavy and beautiful. If you prefer, you can also purchase votives you can put in your own holders.
Some of these blends combine scents I would never have thought to combine, but they all work. Of course I have my personal favorites! (Ylang ylang is my favorite essential oil, so the Sensuality candle is one of my favorites.) Scents include:
Clarity (Eucalyptus, Orange & Lavender)
Relaxing (Lavender)
Sensuality (Palmarosa, Ylang-ylang & Patchouli)
Tranquility (Cinnamon, Lemongrass & Rosemary)
Uplifting (Lavender, Geranium & Tangerine)
Well Being (Cedarwood, Nutmeg & Lavender)
Stocking Stuffers
A full set of these candles would make a lovely wrapped gift. (So would the larger Bluecorn Beeswax candles.)
Individual votives make great stocking stuffers. These in the glassware are very heavy for their size, so do be aware of that. (Also make sure you pad them well. Wrap them in something before adding to a stocking, or pack between socks or something.)
They also come as travel tins, which would be perfect for stuffing stockings.
All the different forms are also available as “plain” beeswax, if you prefer to skip the scent. And Amazon carries many of the products, as well.
