When Ariel was a baby, my husband was a youth pastor. I remember many occasions when we would attend loud concerts as parts of various youth events, and struggle to keep ear plugs in her ears. Protecting her hearing would have been so much easier if Em’s 4 Kids had been around then! Em’s 4 Kids, and the smaller Em’s 4 Bubs, are earmuff-style hearing protection for children and babies.
Em’s 4 Kids are designed just like adult ear protection used by shooters during target practice – they’re just smaller. (These are actually good even for small adults, like me!) Em’s 4 Bubs are designed to slip onto stretchy headbands to keep them in place.
Much to my surprise, when I first slipped these onto Livia (who pulls everything I put on her head right back off), she left them on. They stay in place nicely, thanks to the stretchy band. I tried the kids’ version myself, as did my nine-year-old, and they definitely muffled the sounds around us. We haven’t had opportunity to try them yet in the type of loud situation for which they’re designed, but I’m confident they will be far more effective than our previous hacked-together efforts!
Friends have suggested that these would be good in households with guns where the kids (or Mom and Dad, with baby nearby) like to engage in target practice. If you go to the races, or your kids like to visit the airport to sit and watch the planes take off – or even if the little ones ride around on the riding lawn mower – any of these very loud activities would be perfect times to protect our young ones’ hearing with Em’s 4 Kids or Em’s 4 Bubs.
Disclosure: Earmuffs 4 Kids provided me with a pair of Em’s 4 Kids and a pair of Em’s 4 Bubs to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions you read here are entirely my own.

I am so happy to have run across your blog, and more specifically this post. We have tried to take my son to see movies, but they are so loud; much louder now than they were when we were younger…I have my theory on why this is, but won’t go into it on my first comment on your blog :). We have had to leave at least 2 movies because he couldn’t handle the volume. I can’t wait to check out this product and hopefully have a way for him to enjoy movies with us.
Hi, Jennifer; thanks for stopping by!
I’d love to hear your theory on why movies are louder now. 🙂
