Green Ostrich/To-Go Ware

Green Ostrich.  The name is unusual – but memorable.  But what is it?  An eco-friendly online gift store.  Green Ostrich really carries a wonderful selection of “green” products.  Their stated goal is to “help people make changes, not sacrifices.” Products they sell include high-quality makeup brushes from EcoTools, beautiful reclaimed glass jewelry, and (along with numerous other products, of course!) these bamboo utensils from To-Go Ware.

For some reason I expected these to be shorter – but wider – than they actually are.  Sort of short-and-stubby.  They’re pretty much the same proportions as your regular flatware, though.  Bamboo is a good choice for the environment because it’s highly sustainable.  (That stuff grows fast!)  It’s a good choice for travel because it’s very lightweight.  And it’s a good choice for aesthetics because it’s beautiful!

This particular set of utensils includes a fork, spoon, and knife, and a pair of chopsticks.  All of these are contained in a carrying case made of RPET – that is, fabric made from recycled plastic.  And it has a carabiner on it so you can clip it to something, like your backpack.

Keep one in your desk drawer.  Carry it for camping.  Clip one to your backpack for use at school, or your diaper bag for times you’re out with the kids.  (Although I hope that for most of you that’s one or the other, not both.)  And toss one into a stocking. 🙂
