Sometimes you’re not looking for individual gifts, but for a single gift that the whole family can enjoy together. If there are children of varying ages, this can get tricky! While I’m sure that there will be some “old hat” ideas on this list, hopefully there will be some helpful new suggestions, as well. (I’m going to get specific with some of the suggestions on this list, for the sake of ideas that span age ranges well.)
- movie night basket (family-friendly video or a gift card for a rental, popcorn, etc.)
- platter or special/“celebrate” plate
- all-in-one game set
- Camp board game
- Wildcraft! board game
- puzzles from Blessings Unlimited (These have concentric rings of varying difficulty.)
- pieceless puzzle
(The difficulty level of these is pretty standard, but the little ones can’t lose the pieces!)
- dinnertime discussion cards
- a good read-aloud
- cookies, brownies, or other baked goods
- a basket of supplies for making the cookies, brownies, etc. together
- a basket of supplies for a craft project to do together
- fire starters or something to create colored flames in the fireplace
- ornament
- good music to enjoy together
When shopping retail online, remember to go through a site like Cashbaq, Big Crumbs, ShopatHome, Ebates, or Mr. Rebates, so you can get a percentage back! Especially if you’re buying a lot of gifts, this can really add up at this time of year. (If you have the time, compare them. Different ones have different retailers, and some that overlap have varying cash back amounts for the same one.)
