When it comes to lotion, I have two primary considerations:
#1 – Are the ingredients “clean”?
#2 – Does it absorb well, without leaving me feeling “greasy” or “slimy”?
Mahu Baby is a New Zealand-based line of baby care products, and I had the opportunity to try their lotion. Like the other Mahu Baby products, it is free of parabens and phthalates. It’s made with nourishing oils like sweet almond oil and flax (linseed) oil. It even has manuka honey in it. (I’m thinking that would make it fabulous for things like eczema. Manuka honey is used as a wound dressing.)
The lotion comes in this beautiful pump bottle (see the photo at left), and is a sort of “thin,” silky lotion – it isn’t thick. Honestly, I haven’t used it on my baby yet; she doesn’t get dry skin very often. I’ve used it myself as a hand lotion. It absorbs quickly without being slimy, and it doesn’t have a strong fragrance.
A U.S.-based website is in the works but, in the meantime, the Mahu Baby products can be purchased through Amazon. In addition to the lotion, a baby bath/shampoo, massage oil, moisturizer, and diaper cream are available.
Disclosure: I was provided with a bottle of Mahu Baby lotion to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
Wow, that sounds like a fantastic lotion! My kiddos have super sensitive skin, I will have to check it out.
