About now, most of America is thinking about Christmas gifts.  But what else is usually needed on Christmas morning as gifts are unwrapped?  Batteries, and a means of opening all those new packages!  Clamshells.  Plastic tags.  CD/DVD wrappers.  If you have an Open It! on hand, you can open all of these.

This nifty tool looks something like a set of gardener’s shears.  It has sturdy offset blades that will let you cut through thick plastic like clamshell cases.  (There’s a little latch to hold it shut when not in use.)  They’re strong enough for those plastic zip ties or twist ties on children’s toy packaging, too.  It has other built-in gadgets, too, though.

A screwdriver pulls out from the end of one handle – great for opening battery cases!  The other handle has a little cap that removes to expose a blade, much like a box cutter, but smaller than the average box cutter.  It can be used for cutting boxes.  It can also be used to slit CD and DVD wrappers.  There’s even a bottle opener!

I was pleasantly surprised that the tool came in packaging that was not so hard to open that you needed it to open its own packaging. 🙂

This will be a very handy tool to have around on Christmas morning. Now we just need those batteries…
