Relevant is only a month away! I’m so excited!! Last year was such a wonderfully refreshing, encouraging, edifying time that I can hardly wait for this year’s conference. Even better, my sister gets to come with me this time. 🙂
As we eagerly anticipate October 27th, we’ve decided to put together something special for you, too. A little while back, Bekah had a surprise box giveaway. She filled up a flat-rate Priority Mail box with random goodies and gave it away to a blog reader. This month, we are teaming up to do it again. One of our readers will win a medium flat-rate Priority Mail box filled with whatever goodies we can think of to tuck in the box. The giveaway will close to entries the day we arrive at Relevant, but we’ll ship it after we come home. (You never know if some goodies from Relevant might end up in the box!)
To enter, make use of the widget below. None of the entries are mandatory, but doing them all will, of course, improve your chances of winning.
Bonus Giveaway for My Fellow Relevant Attendees:
I have another giveaway ‘specially for Relevant attendees. JAX Games provided me with a boxful of their games to review and give away, and I’m saving two of these for you! (If you aren’t coming to Relevant, don’t worry. I’ll have other JAX games to give away over the next month or so, too.)
One of JAX’s “signature” games is one called Sequence. Now, I’ve never played Sequence, so I’m not very familiar with the original, but we got Bible Sequence and States and Capitals sequence, and they were a lot of fun. Each one has a board with a “grid” of pictures. (In the case of the Bible version, it’s icons of Bible events. In the case of the States and Capitals one, it’s state silhouettes.) There are chips, color-coded by player or team, and a deck of cards that correspond to the images on the board. (There are also a few cards that change up play a bit.)
The object of the game is to get a “sequence” of five of your chips, up and down, across, or diagonally. You do this by “playing” the cards you’ve drawn, by placing chips on the corresponding squares. This is deceptively difficult! One the one hand, it’s very simple. Even my four-year-old was able to play with us, and didn’t really need our help. (We did read the cards out loud to her so she would benefit from their contents, but the pictures were sufficient for her to know what and where to play.) But as strategy comes into play, it gets tricky to actually make a row of five!
My nine-year-old thought the game was going to be boring, but she seemed to enjoy herself. The structure of the game is such that the kids are “drilling” the featured facts, without even realizing they’re doing it!
One of my fellow Relevant attendees will win Bible Sequence and one will win States and Capitals Sequence.
You can enter using the Rafflecopter on this page. (Sorry; two Rafflecopter widgets on a single page makes things turn wonky.) The Twitter follow is mandatory, as it’s how I will let you know if you’ve won. Watch your tweets during the conference! If you win, you’ll need to meet up with me to snag your game. (If you’re not coming to Relevant, but have a friend who is and is willing to pick up for you, you’re welcome to enter. Just leave a note in the “extra information” field telling me who that is, so I know who to look for.)
Disclosure: The above games, as well as a few others, were provided to me free of charge by the manufacturer to facilitate this and upcoming reviews. Duplicate games were also provided as giveaway prizes. I was not compensated for this post, and all opinions are purely my own.
