I have been searching, over the last few days, for items that make good fillers for gift baskets. I want them to be fairly small and fairly inexpensive (because they add up, once you have a number of items in a single basket). Here are some of the items I’ve come across that I am either using in the next couple of months, or have “filed away” for future use. Most of them would make good stocking stuffers, too. (And all of the Amazon ones are available with free Prime or SuperSaver shipping. So they might be good “filler items” when you need to bump your total up over $25; that would be a good way to accumulate some things throughout the year.)
- decorative memo books
(Amazon – These come in a variety of styles.)
- bookmarks
(Ditto.)
- Writersblok Bamboo small notebooks
(Amazon – They also have “mini” notebooks. They come in 4-5-packs, so you can split them up if you want.)
- National Sales stoneware bowl
(Amazon)
- Mel Bay Music Dictionary Pocketbook
(Amazon)
- Green Toys BPA-Free Feeding Bowl
(Amazon – a tad pricier than the above items, but this would be great for a baby gift basket. They also have plates and flatware. Oh, and this is a 4-pack, not an individual bowl.)
- Blooming Bag
(Amazon, but from third-party sellers only, so no free shipping on this one. It would add a really unique touch to a basket, though.)
- soy fragrance beads (CBD – A great alternative to candles, these come in a variety of scents. Also, soy wax is healthier and more environmentally-friendly than paraffin.)
- Family Fun magazine (Deal through Mamapedia, this week only. $5 for a year’s subscription, or use coupon code HOLIDAY3 and reduce it to $2!)
- calling cards
(VistaPrint – Usually you can pay only shipping for business cards, and you can put on them whatever information you want.)
- return address labels
(VistaPrint – Same here. Believe it or not, our children have loved these.)
- conversation starter cards
(DaySpring – They have several different sets.)
- 28-month pocket calendar
(DaySpring – There are a number of styles for these, as well. Also, they have some slightly larger, wire-bound 16-month calendars.)
- bargain books
(Amazon – The selection changes, so depending on when you look, you might find some great deals, or all duds. When I last looked, I did find Bedtime Bible Story Book
for $3.99, among other things.)
Of course, places like the dollar store, and the Target or Michael’s $1/$2 section (great place for notecards and rubber stamps!) also offer possibilities. But they also require going out to the physical store. (Not that that’s a huge deal, but right now I can’t do that, so I’m really appreciating the online options! Plus, depending on who the basket is for, online shopping can make it easier to keep things secret.)
