I recently learned of a rather unusual charity. Car Angel is a car donation organization, but not your typical one. They use the proceeds to produce media designed to make a difference in society. For example, they produce novels to “release into” the prisons, with themes intended to give prisoners hope and a motivation to repent and grow. They also produce DVD cartoons for children. These stories, which they compare to Veggie Tales productions, are created with the intent of instilling traditional values in our children, as we can only build a strong society by raising godly children. (These DVD’s are distributed free, through children’s organizations.) Although it does not seem to be overtly Christian, I get the impression that Car Angel is probably a Christian-owned company. They don’t seem to support anything questionable.
It looks like an easy way to support good things, if you have an old car you need to get rid of. If you are not too far away, they will pick up your car, whether it’s running or not, and the donation is tax-deductible.
