I’m rather late on Works for Me Wednesday this week. It’s Thursday. But, as the WFMW post I had planned for this week fits the theme, I will post it anyway.

We recently determined that Ariel had been spending too much time on watching movies. This had come about because when she first started asking to watch movies, it wasn’t an issue, and we had simply never made the adjustment. I knew she would be disappointed, though, if we just flat-out cut back on movie time, so I decided to try to make it somewhat fun.
We printed up a set of movie “tickets” (certificates that say “one,” with a fun border, printed with a business card template). Each one is good for approximately 30 minutes of movie time, and she gets six for the week. She may trade them in for whatever combination she likes, on whatever day(s) she likes, but when they’re gone, they’re gone (until the next week). She feels like she has some control, and she’s even learning budgeting skills!

[…] apologies to my consistent readers for the duplication, I am going to repeat last week’s post so that it will actually get in on time and the WFMW readers will get to see […]
