Cocomo Joe provided us with the products you see below, to facilitate this review. However, as always, all opinions expressed here are purely my own (and/or those of my family members).

It’s no secret that we’re a little okay, a lot – unconventional. One of our “oddities” is that we don’t introduce grains until toddlerhood. The conventional timetable just doesn’t make sense. Unfortunately, this makes it really hard to find foods for baby to munch on, because everything seems to have flour in it!

I was so excited to hear about Cocomo Joe! Their babybar is coconut-based. It’s great for paleo babies, or anyone else avoiding grains and wanting whole foods. Now, a couple very minor caveats with these. One, they’re pretty crumbly, so be warned that they can make a mess. Two, they’re rather dry (they are teething bars, after all), so if the baby doesn’t have something to drink alongside one, it can sort of “bog down” his mouth about two-thirds of the way through. But Caleb loves these!

They’re small, so he can handle them easily himself. I feel good about the ingredients I’m offering him, because it’s all good fats and protein. And they smell fabulous!
But Cocomo Joe Isn’t Just for Babies!
In fact, the babybar is the only product designed specifically for babies. If you like the general idea of the baby bar, but want something a bit more interesting to the palate, check out the JOEBARS.

These snack bars come in six flavors; four are pictured here: mango, green, cocoa, and fig. (Coffee and cranberry are the other two.) These are coconut, seed, and nut-based, then flavored as appropriate.

Of course, each person has his flavor preferences (I’m glad, for instance, that we didn’t get “coffee,” because no one in my house likes coffee flavor!) but everyone in my household enjoyed at least one of these. I think my older two girls liked them all. Loved all but the green one.

There’s granola, too. It comes in a handful of flavors: eggnog, salty chocolate, cranberry, ginger apple, and chocolate milk. The chocolate milk granola (also vegan & organic) is so named because it turns the milk chocolatey when you eat it with milk. It’s the one we tried.

The final item we tried was Cocomo Corn. Cocomo Corn is caramel corn made with coconut nectar and coconut sugar as the caramel base – so there’s no white sugar.

I thought it had a bit of an unusual aftertaste (probably due to my unfamiliarity with coconut sweeteners), but I still enjoyed it, in smaller doses. Probably good, since even healthy caramel corn doesn’t need to be a dietary staple! The kids loved this.

Sorry, I’m not sharing. (Actually, with the exception of a couple baby bars, we’ve gobbled it all up already!) I’m sure after seeing all this deliciousness, though, your mouth is watering and you want some of your own.
