This is one of those DIY “projects” that’s primarily motivated by the desire to control the ingredients. In this case, the desire to avoid ingredients that are just undesirable for general purposes, and potentially also the ability to control for allergenic ingredients by making omissions or substitutions.
This is also a really easy DIY. You measure the ingredients and mix everything together, and that’s it; you’re done.

DIY Taco Seasoning
Ingredients
- 6 tsp. chili powder
- 4-1/2 tsp. ground cumin
- 5 tsp. paprika
- 3 tsp. onion powder
- 2-1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/8 - 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Mix. Store in airtight container.
- TO USE:
- Add 1-1/2 Tbsp. for each "package" called for in your recipe.
