Color Analysis
I have written here about color analysis, but not very recently. Not since I have learned more about the process, the various systems available, and what is good. To put it in a nutshell: wearing the right colors can make you look healthier, happier, and even younger. Wearing the wrong colors can make you look tired, ill, and even (visually) age you. A good color analysis system will include enough separate groups to account for pretty much everybody, while not going so overboard with categories it’s super-complicated and people can’t keep up with it.
The best group-based (as opposed to completely individualized, which is harder to accomplish and therefore not as accessible to as many people) system that I’m aware of at this point is Sci\Art. Sci\Art breaks human coloring down into a total of 12 categories, and provides a range of colors within each that will flatter the people who fall into those categories. Determining which category you fall into is accomplished by draping.
What’s draping? Well, draping is a specific process of covering your clothing near your face with specially-calibrated colored cloths, to determine which do better or worse things for your skin. Through process of elimination, the proper season is determined.
Put This to Use
But then what do you do with that information? You need a fan or palette with which to shop. This provides you with color swatches that are your “season,” so you can match clothing, cosmetics, and accessories to it to see if they’re right. (This is much more objective than trying to just judge in the mirror, especially in stores with bad lighting.)
For gift-giving, you can’t beat the Indigo Tones plume! Created by a Sci\Art certified analyst, these are made with beautiful tactile materials. Each color swatch is embroidered on thickly, a little like a Girl Scout badge. The thread used is a bit shiny – almost metallic, but not quite. It’s just gorgeous to look at, and even feels good in your hands.
Even the cover is embroidered rather than printed!
If you want to give someone a gift that will last a lifetime, give her (or him) the gift of her (or his) colors! It will never get used up, go out of style, or become a knick-knack on the shelf. Rather, it will help the recipient to feel healthy, attractive, and confident! (It will probably save money on bad purchases, too.)
If you’re looking for more, Kerri also has mineral cosmetics, natural skin care, and accessories – all designed to be healthy body-friendly.
