This photo cannot do this product justice – it’s the whole “photo of a photo” thing. Photographs make for wonderfully personal gifts – but on their own they can be kind of boring. Photo Art People will take your photograph and turn it into a wrapped canvas art piece.
The photo you see at left is one that I took, myself, of Livia. (It’s several months old, so she has more hair than that now. And a couple of teeth.) The only thing I did to it before sending was remove the red eye. (They would have done that, too, if I had not; I just had already done it for the sake of the photo, in general.) Before printing it onto the canvas, though, they put the photo through a fifteen-point inspection.
In the case of this particular photo, that resulted in their making three distinct changes:
1) They blurred the background so the viewer’s attention can be more fully focused on Livia. (This is especially good, as the photo was composed pretty well, but she was on our bed when it was taken. It’s our pillows and stuff in the background!)
2) They brightened the colors. Unfortunately, you really can’t see this well in my photo-of-the-photo. In fact, the color looks a little flaky. But I assure you, in real life the color is quite vivid (and not weirdly orange like it looks here)!
3) They added a little around the edges of the picture so that none of my original picture would be “cut off” when they wrapped it around the frame.
The result is a beautiful, large piece of art. There are other examples on their site that will give you an even better idea of the difference they can make to a snapshot.
These would make great gifts for the grandparents, for new parents, or for the person who “has everything.”

Disclosure: Photo Art People printed my photo canvas at no charge to me, to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions are entirely my own.

Bill here, from PhotoArt People. I know it may sound like we did something “super-special” on Livia above, but we really do have an artist work on each photo individually. Nothing extra special on hers. In fact each incoming photo is examined on 15 separate image quality parameters (kinda like the Mercedes used car 30 point inspection) . Our motto is “We coax the masterpiece out of your photo”.
One of our first customers, Carlee, has purchased over 50 canvas prints for herself and as gifts over the years! Hope you give us a try!
