Thank you to Plywerk for providing the art shown in this post, to facilitate my review.
What is Plywerk?
I was pretty tickled when I heard about Plywerk. The company mounts your photos to bamboo for quality art you can hang on the wall. I love bamboo – it’s beautiful and eco-friendly. And the company does their own work right here in the U.S., so they’re not outsourcing all their jobs to China or Mexico or something. (Nothing against China or Mexico. We need jobs here, too, though!)
The only hard part of the whole process was choosing a photo. I have so many I had a hard time settling on one! We didn’t have any “display in the house”-type pictures of Caleb yet, so I finally decided on this one.
The order process looks like this:
It’s very clear and obvious. Click on a selection, and it shows up in color so you can see exactly what you’ve selected.
And everything is updated as you go. Here you can see that my size selection is shown, as well as the photo I’m using, and the price with my current combination of options. ($19 is a special introductory deal that all new customers get on this size/material combination, to try out the service.) Then, of course, you’ll “add to cart.”
This is one little glitch I ran into. Although the picture showed up during the process as $19, when I got into the actual cart, it was showing up at the non-discounted price. Logging out and back in fixed the glitch, though, with no further action needed on my part.
Then I just had to wait to get it in the mail.
The Picture Arrives
When the picture arrived, it was very well packaged. There was some packing paper on top to take up the extra space in the box, and then it was wrapped up like this:
(That packing paper is pretty cool, by the way. It’s going into my art journaling supplies.)
The picture looks beautiful on the wall, as you can see at the top of this post. Another cool thing is that since the board it’s mounted on is three-dimensional, the picture will stand up.
The glues and such that Plywerk uses are eco-friendly, too, and they don’t stink. (In other words, there was no chemical odor to this when it came out of the box.)
These make a great personalized gifts!
