August is What Will be Your Legacy? Month.
What a great holiday! I think we all need a reminder once in a while to stop and consider this question.
Will my legacy be business/work/money? Am I spending all my time with business intelligence software, doing customer analysis and website tracking, trying to boost online conversion? Or am I at the office all day, with hours and hours of overtime? Am I building a business to pass down, or just spending time working?
Will my legacy be an invention or creation, like a book or song or poem? Or perhaps a collection of these?
Will my legacy be skills passed down through teaching and training?
Will my legacy be a particular ministry – perhaps to Indian orphans or Haitians needing water and building supplies, or the homeless downtown in my city?
There are many, many good things. There are even many godly things. And my legacy may be multi-dimensional. But the biggest question, for me, is this:
Will my legacy be children – and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren… – who love the Lord with all their hearts, souls, minds, and strength?
What can I do to help make that happen? (God, of course, is ultimately responsible for their hearts.) Am I doing it?
What do you want your legacy to be? What are you doing to ensure that what you hope your legacy will be, is what your legacy will be?
